Planting Tips for Hibiscus:
- Choose a location with well-draining soil and ample sunlight for optimal growth and blooming.
- Dig a hole twice the width of the plant's root ball and ensure the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface when planting.
- Space multiple Luna Hibiscus Rose plants approximately 2 to 3 feet apart to allow for proper air circulation and growth.
Watering Hibiscus:
- Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during the plant's active growth period.
- Water deeply and thoroughly, ensuring the water reaches the plant's root zone.
- Avoid overhead watering to prevent fungal diseases, instead, use a soaker hose or drip irrigation system.
- Use our Moisture Maxx non-ionic wetting agent in periods of drought.
Mulching Hibiscus:
- Apply a layer of organic mulch to your Hibiscus, such as bark chips or shredded leaves, around the base of the plant to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.
- Maintain a mulch layer approximately 2 to 3 inches thick, being careful not to pile mulch against the Hibiscus plant's stem, which can lead to rot.
Pruning Hibiscus :
- Prune 'Valentine's Crush' Hibiscus in late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and encourage new growth.
- Use sharp, clean pruning should maintain its compact and tidy appearance, but avoid excessive pruning, which can reduce flowering.
Fertilizing Guidelines for Hibiscus:
- Feed 'Valentine's Crush' Hibiscus with a balanced, SR-18-5-10 slow-release fertilizer formulated for flowering shrubs in early spring.
- Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excessive vegetative growth at the expense of flowering.
